    Does it matter if the Y strainer is installed "upside down"? In other words, does gravity influence its operation?

    • @Tameson
      @Tameson 5 дней назад

      The Y strainer can be installed vertically or horizontally, but the filter leg must be pointing downwards to ensure that any filtered material does note interfere with the main flow. You can find more info in our article: tameson.com/pages/y-strainer

    • @Goreuncle
      @Goreuncle 4 дня назад

      @@Tameson Thanks a lot for the reply! I asked because my brother had a heat pump installed, which requires a Y strainer on the return pipe...the geniuses he hired to perform the installation left the filter leg pointing up. After telling my brother that the strainer was incorrectly installed, those geniuses replied that the leg's position doesn't matter, the Y strainer will filter all the same, the only thing that's important is to observe the arrow that indicates the direction of the flow... Top quality installers 😅 I have a spare Y strainer at home, upon closer examination, seems obvious that if the leg is pointing up, the flow will be easily disturbed by buildup of "dirt" in that narrow space, like you said. Aside from this, it also seems obvious that the leg is meant to be pointing down for maintenance reasons, since the "dirt" will naturally fall out by the action of gravity when the filter cap is removed... but if the leg is pointing up, the "dirt" will remain inside the pipe (if it's heavy enough). There are so many incompetent installers out there, asking insanely high prices for subpar work... it's crazy... and it's even crazier that they double down and try to justify their sloppy work when it's pointed out to them.

      To block the air and hold the piston mid-stroke or at any other point, you could consider using a 5/3 solenoid valve with a closed center position. This type of valve can block the air flow and maintain the piston in its current position.

    What is the maximum speed of a pneumatic cylinder? ISO 6432

    • @Tameson
      @Tameson Месяц назад

      The maximum speed of a pneumatic cylinder, especially one that conforms to ISO 6432 standards, can vary based on several factors including the bore size, air pressure, and the load it is moving. Generally, pneumatic cylinders can achieve speeds up to 1 meter per second, but for an ISO 6432 cylinder, the typical speed range might be slightly lower due to its design and application focus on smaller bore sizes and precise control.

    Will an average safety valve release the pressure of a 12 SCFM pump at 150 psi effectively enough, or will I need to pick one with a larger orifice?

    • @Tameson
      @Tameson 3 месяца назад

      Hi, to ensure the safety and efficiency of your system, it's crucial to select a safety valve that is not only capable of handling the specific flow rate of your pump but also the pressure it operates at. An average safety valve may not be optimized for your specific setup, especially considering the flow rate and pressure you've mentioned. For a 12 SCFM pump at 150 PSI, we recommend selecting a safety valve with a larger orifice. This will ensure that the valve can release pressure effectively and maintain the safety of your system without compromising performance.

    • @Tameson
      @Tameson 4 месяца назад

      Hello, Exn refers to "non-sparking" equipment, which is designed to not produce sparks that could ignite a flammable atmosphere under normal operating conditions. This type of protection is suitable for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas where flammable gases, vapors, or mists are not likely to occur in normal operation. Exd, on the other hand, stands for "flameproof" equipment. This design contains any explosion within the device and prevents it from igniting the surrounding atmosphere. It is suitable for Zone 1 hazardous areas, where flammable gases, vapors, or mists are likely to occur during normal operation. Hope this helps.

      Hello, to enhance the vacuum pressure, you can consider the following steps: 1. Check for any leaks in the system and repair them. 2. Ensure that the generator's filters are clean and unobstructed. 3. Adjust the supply pressure to the optimal level as recommended by the manufacturer. 4. Consider using a vacuum generator with a larger capacity if the current one is not sufficient.

    Question: On the metal ball valve, can the handle be reversed so that it's in a different position on the valve? I don't have one in front of me and want to order one online. The one I need has a female end that needs to go on a short length of pipe coming out of a wall. The handle as seen in the ad for the valve is situated over the female end which would prevent the valve from being installed as the handle would be too close to the wall. Please advise. Thanks.

      In many ball valves, the handle can indeed be reversed or re-positioned to fit into tighter spaces. However, this depends on the specific design of the valve. Maybe you could install the valve the complete like in mirror so the handle will be oriented opposite to the wall.

      @@Tameson Thank you for your reply. If you mean turning the valve around so the handle faces away from the wall, that's not possible without adding extra fittings. The part of the valve that goes up to the wall is female as the pipe out of the wall is male. It's basically a 3/8" to 3/8" ball valve needed as there is a hose that's connected to the pipe out of the wall. So it's a female to male (valve) situation needed except the handle gets parked over the female end which is too close to the wall. I don't think the online seller understands the problem as there's a language barrier. This is a basic generic brass ball valve with a nut securing the handle onto the valve. The kind with a shaved-on-both-sides stud out of the valve with a rectangular hole in the handle that fits onto the stud where the nut can tighten the handle in place. The handle has two metal tangs that hang down to catch the stop tang on the valve. Was wondering if the "stops" on the valve and handle would work in reverse and wanted to ask you since you did a good job of making an excellent video on the subject.

    I need something like this to work with a US Solid ball valve. When the float is down I want power to go to the ball valve so it will open. When the float reaches the top of the tank, I want it to cut the power to the ball valve which will leave it closed. Will this work like that?

    • @Tameson
      @Tameson 6 месяцев назад

      For your application, you could consider a float switch that is normally closed (NC) when the float is down and opens the circuit (cuts power) when the float rises. This type of switch will allow power to flow to your US Solid ball valve when the water level is low, causing it to open, and will cut the power, leaving the valve closed when the float reaches the top of the tank. Please ensure to verify the electrical specifications of the ball valve and the float switch to ensure they are compatible. @@Tameson Did some research, 10mm to 1/4" I think it is. Thanks!
